Page cover851 × 3152.70:1Desktop 820 × 312 · Phone 640 × 360
Event cover1920 × 10051.91:1Phones trim the sides more than the top and bottom. Keep the date, title and location away from the edges. The older 1200 × 628 size still works but can look soft on large screens.
Profile photo800 × 8001.00:1Shown as a circle in most places (about 170 px on desktop, 128 px on phones). Keep faces and logos inside the circle.
Shared link image1200 × 6301.90:1Pulled from your page's og:image tag. Maximum file size 8 MB.
Feed post · square1080 × 10801.00:1Square (1:1) and 3:2 are the safest ratios. Other ratios may be cropped into a thumbnail.
Feed post · portrait1080 × 13500.80:1Portrait (4:5) takes up more of the phone screen. Other ratios may be cropped into a thumbnail.
Feed post · landscape1200 × 6301.90:1Landscape link-style size. Other ratios may be cropped into a thumbnail.
Story1080 × 19200.56:1The top holds the profile name and controls and the bottom holds the reply bar. Published guides disagree on exact sizes, so the shaded zones are a conservative 310 px.
Group cover1640 × 8561.92:1No profile photo overlaps a group cover. This size comes from a single published guide; test with a real upload.

Instagram image sizes

FormatSize (px)RatioNotes
Feed post · square1080 × 10801.00:1The profile grid shows posts as 3:4 tall tiles, so a square post loses the outer 12.5% on each side there. The feed itself shows the full square.
Feed post · portrait1080 × 13500.80:1Portrait (4:5) is nearly a perfect fit for the 3:4 profile grid; only a thin strip on each side is trimmed there.
Feed post · landscape1080 × 5661.91:1Landscape posts are cropped hardest on the 3:4 profile grid: only the middle 39% shows there. Put the subject in the center.
Story1080 × 19200.56:1Keep the top and bottom 310 px free of text and logos so the app controls do not cover them.
Profile photo320 × 3201.00:1Stored at 320 × 320 and shown as a circle around 110 px wide. Keep the subject centered.

LinkedIn image sizes

FormatSize (px)RatioNotes
Personal banner1584 × 3964.00:1Maximum file size 8 MB. Wide 4:1 banners get small on phones, so keep text large and short.
Company banner1128 × 1915.91:1The company logo covers the left section, so keep key content in the middle. Maximum file size 3 MB.
Post · square1080 × 10801.00:1LinkedIn crops and centers images automatically, so keep text near the center.
Post · portrait1080 × 13500.80:1LinkedIn crops and centers images automatically, so keep text near the center.

X image sizes

Questions

What size is a Facebook cover photo?

The commonly recommended upload size is 851 × 315 pixels. Desktop shows it at about 820 × 312, while phones show a 640 × 360 view that cuts roughly 17% from each side. Facebook does not publish exact numbers, so preview your image before you post.

Why does my cover photo look cropped on my phone?

Phones display page covers in a taller frame than desktop, so the outer edges are trimmed. Anything important, like a logo or headline, should sit in the middle two-thirds of the image. The Social Image Sizer shades the cut areas so you can see it before you upload.

Is my image uploaded anywhere?

No. Your image is read and edited inside your browser and is gone when you close the tab. Nothing is sent to a server.

Which file format should I export?

JPG is the safest choice for photos and works everywhere. PNG is better for graphics with text or logos. WebP makes smaller files, but check that the platform accepts it before you upload.

What does the resolution check mean?

It compares the pixels in your image with the pixels the platform needs. Sharp means at least twice as many, which holds up on retina screens. OK means enough for a normal screen. Soft means your image will be stretched and may look blurry.

How current are these sizes?

They were compiled from public size guides in October 2026. Platforms change dimensions without announcing it, so treat them as a strong starting point and test with a real upload.
